What is the Journal all about?
~ The main aim of the journal is to promote the work of young photographers in the UK. Giving them a platform for presenting and displaying their work to a wide audience of professionals and peers. See About Us Page for more.
How Do I submit work to Phoebus Journal?
~ If you go to the Submissions page there is a document that has all the details regarding submitting work to the Phoebus Journal.
Why use PDF files?
~ We are using PDF document for several reasons. They are the ultimate digital magazine format, able to be stored and archived in your personnel records. High quality images can be used without having to wait for internet speeds. Images can be protected so that copyright restrictions can be upheld.
Are their any restrictions on those who can submit?
~No, our main aim is to promote new and unexposed talent. You are as old as you feel and the use of the word ‘young’ is open to the interpretation of individuals.
Why should I submit to the Phoebus Journal?
~ There are many reasons, but mainly we hope it will reinforce your portfolio, gain a wide audience for you and your work, and act as a sign post to your own site.
What type of work are we looking for?
~ Photographically - anything. Seriously we are interested in every aspect of photography, from traditional subjects to photojournalism, fashion, abstract etc. For profile sections we want images that showcase the oeuvre of the photographer. We have feature pages where specific projects or series’ can be displayed. Also images that are more individual can easily be accommodated into the Shtick Gallery.
~ Written Pieces - if you want to write a review of an exhibition that you have attended, or book you have read, camera you have used, please send it through. Also if you would like to write an article relating to photography or can adapt an essay then please contact us, as we want to encourage discourse and participation.
Will I still hold the copyright to my work?
~ Yes. You are protected under the ‘Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1998’, and will retain all rights to your work. You simply sign a licence for us to use your work for the purposes of the journal only. Any further uses will be discussed on an individual basis, should you want Phoebus to handle your images for stock etc.
